I disagree. In 50 years, I see people with office jobs having facebook open in the window next to Excel, and lumberjacks stopping to check for text messages between trees. I think the days of focussing on one thing at a time are essentially over. The way information is processed in the brain will be hard-wired before these kids leave elementary school.

A lot of these types may refocus once the novelty wears off. Socialization and popularity are a priority up to your late teens/early 20s or so. Once that part of your life is over, however, and you're forced to spend more time working at a career (it's not optional in the 21st century), I think a lot of these concerns end up going away, to a substantial degree.

The Bronte Sisters :) Nice.

You more than a few times have commented that one of your little pleasures is sitting in a restaurant alone without a book to read or iPod to listen to it. I can't see many under 20s doing that.
