In 50 years, I see people with office jobs having facebook open in the window next to Excel, and lumberjacks stopping to check for text messages between trees. I think the days of focussing on one thing at a time are essentially over. The way information is processed in the brain will be hard-wired before these kids leave elementary school. I disagree. Socialization and popularity are a priority up to your late teens/early 20s or so. Once that part of your life is over, however, and you're forced to spend more time working at a career (it's not optional in the 21st century), I think a lot of these concerns end up going away, to a substantial degree.
